Even though they had been around for a lot of time already, McLaren is not as big as its competitors when it comes to the volume of cars they sell or even when it comes to the amount of cars they have in their roster. In order to change that and grow as a company they decided to release a lot more cars and by the end of 2018 they plan on having around six different models. One of these cars is the 2016 McLaren 570S Coupe which has been first showcased earlier this year and it is expected to hit the market by the end of this year.
2016 McLaren 570s Coupe Price
This is the car which McLaren hopes that it will triple their sales volume and it will allow them to develop further new models with higher performance than the current cars. The 570S is already available for sale and it has been announced to cost $185,000 on the US market. This price will increase with added options but it will still remain under the price of its bigger brother, the 650S.
At this price point there are a lot of capable cars such as the Audi R8 V10 and even the Porsche 911 Turbo, both of them being very capable and both of them quite luxurious as well. McLaren takes a slightly different approach with a car aimed at people looking for pure performance. The 570S is the only car in this price range to feature a full carbon fiber chassis. This allows it to be very light with a dry weight of just 2,900 pounds, more than 400 pounds lighter than its closest competitor.
In terms of design, the 2016 McLaren 570S Coupe is similar to their other cars on the market. However, it is narrower, longer and slightly taller than the 650S for example. This is because they wanted to deliver a car which could be used on a day to day basis without having to compromise on interior space or comfort. In the front there is also a bigger trunk than usual as well as slightly more space for luggage behind the seats. In the front, the car is nearly identical to the 650S sharing a very similar design for its headlights and intakes but the car is more similar to that of the P1 on the upper side while the lower bump is similar to the old MP4-12C.
Interior of McLaren 570s
The interior is comfortable and offers all the usual commodities you would expect from a grand tourer. It comes with air conditioning, electric windows, mirrors and seats, leather upholstery, satellite navigation, a great infotainment system as well as high end materials such as aluminum and carbon fiber.
2016 McLaren 570s Coupe Engine
In terms of engines, the 2016 McLaren 570S Coupe comes with the same 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged V8 found on all the other current McLaren models. In this car though it makes 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque which is routed to the rear wheels via a sequential 7 speed gearbox, similar tot he one on the 650S. The car has been announced to hit 60 MPH in just 3.2 seconds and it will have a top speed of 204 MPH. Standard features will include carbon ceramic brakes, an adaptive suspension system as well as Pirelli P Zero Corsa high performance tires as standard. A lesser model will be introduced at a later date as well. This will be called the 540C and it will come with steel brakes, a fixed suspension system and a less powerful engine. There are not that many details about it but it seems that it will start at right around $150,000 which is a lot more competitive than the 570S.
