2016 Mercedes Benz G Class Price

The G Class is one of the longest running names in the car industry with the current model being on the market for almost 40 years. Even though it is this old, the car has been constantly updated with new technologies, engines as well as updated styling. The latest model is the 2016 Mercedes Benz G Class which is going to be released in the next few months and it will be available for sale in most parts around the World. Just like with the older model, the car will only feature premium engines and equipment so it will start at just over $120,000. This makes it one of the most expensive cars on the market and it certainly makes it the most expensive SUV out there.

The recipe for the car remained unchanged so it still features the same body on frame design as its predecessor. However, this time Mercedes worked on the suspension system as well as a few other components in order to offer its passengers higher levels of comfort. The good part is that despite these changes, the G Class remained just as good as before when it comes to off-road capabilities even though most people that can afford one will never actually use it where it is intended to.

Design

The design has been left largely unchanged so the 2016 Mercedes Benz G Class comes with the same design of its body with the angled lines and boxy looks which seems to be stuck in the 1970s. However, there is a new version which will be available starting with the first half of 2016. This is going to be called the G-Class 4×4 Squared and it will be the four wheel drive version of the six wheel drive version of the four wheel drive normal G-Class. Just like with the limited edition 6×6 model, it comes with portal axes in order to increase its ground clearance, a new high performance suspension system which is aimed for off-road use as well as off-road tires on bead-lock rims which can inflate the tires while on the move. The car also adds a winch, a wider track and even LED flood-lights.

The interior on the other hand has been left pretty much unchanged with the newest model being on the same levels of comfort with the S-Class. There is a new steering wheel which is heated as standard and it can even be ordered with included ventilation. The seats are just as good as in any other luxury sedan while the cabin, despite being so old, offers a lot of space for its class.

2016 Mercedes Benz G Class Engine

Under the hood of the 2016 Mercedes Benz G Class there are a few different engines available. The most basic model comes with a 5.5 liter V8 offering 388 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque while the G65 AMG will add a 6 liter twin-turbocharged V12 with 604 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. This will allow it to sprint to 60 MPH in around 4 seconds and it will hit that speed in around 7 seconds while towing a 5000 pounds trailer which is very impressive. A lesser G63 AMG model will also be offered with a 5.5 liter supercharged V8 which will offer around 540 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. The price difference between the two AMG models will be around $50,000 which is quite steep.

The 4×4 Squared model on the other hand will add a new generation 4 liter twin-turbocharged V8 which will provide 416 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque, all while using at least 20% less fuel than the old 5.5 liter model. This particular engine comes with its turbochargers inside the Vee of the engine in order to be more compact and provide more torque at lower revs. All engines will be mated to a standard four wheel drive system and a 7 speed automatic gearbox.
