The original NSX has been a great driver’s car which was not only cheaper than a Ferrari but it also drove a lot better than one. However, this great car has been discontinued and even though there have been rumors about a new one, Honda did not say anything about a successor for more than 10 years. Well, the finally released one for it with the 2017 Acura NSX which is a completely different car than the original. It is bigger, heavier and a lot faster and on top of that, it is a lot more expensive than it used to be.
2017 Acura NSX Price
The new 2017 Acura NSX is built in the United States rather than Japan and the base model costs an impressive $150,000. While it may seem like a fair price for a super-car, there are cheaper cars out there which are faster and more complex than it. The new NSX features an aluminum chassis as well as a high strength steel suspension which is great on a sports car but a bit lacking when comparing it with the carbon fiber cars out there such as the McLaren 540C.
2017 Acura NSX Engine
Engine wise, the new 2017 Acura NSX features a V6, just like its predecessor. This time though, the engine is a 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which is mated to a 9 speed dual-clutch unit that sends all of the power to the rear wheels. However, the car is all wheel drive thanks to three different electric motors which send power to all four wheels. These up the output of the car to 573 horsepower and more than 550 lb-ft of torque which is quite a bit more than the competition. Thanks to this, the NSX gets to 60 MPH in just 2.9 seconds and up to a maximum top speed of 191 MPH which is mostly limited by the gearing set by the gearbox. Rumors say that a higher performance version would be released at a later date which would feature well over 650 horsepower.
Exterior And Interior Design
The design is futuristic and it has the right amount of aggressive features but despite that it perfectly fits the design scheme of Acura which is far more impressive. The 2017 Acura NSX features a center mounted exhaust system, lightweight 19 inch wheels wrapped in high performance tires as well as active aerodynamic features which should help it with cornering at high speeds. The interior is quite luxurious for its class and despite the low price, it is quite a bit better equipped than its direct competitors offering better seats, more room inside the cabin as well as better materials and fittings which make it seem like a high performance luxury car and not just a super-car.
