Now when Bugatti sold all its Veyrons, it is preparing another excellent supercar called Chiron. The newcomer is expected to be more powerful, lighter, and more nimble. If you ask how we know all these, the answer is that we finally caught the Chiron being tested around the Nürburgring. Since their Veyron had several shortcomings such as heavy curb weight and off-set driving position, the company decided to fix all that with the new 2018 Bugatti Chiron. Some trusted sites reported that the vehicle will be derived from the current carbon-fiber platform but it will allegedly have only 8% of carryover components. The main carryover component will actually be the W-16, quad-turbocharged power unit. Even though Volkswagen Group hasn’t announced anything yet, the vehicle is expected to debut sometime in 2017. Read the article below to find out more about the 2018 Bugatti Chiron which is said to be Veyron’s successor.
2018 Bugatti Chiron Exterior
The exterior design of the upcoming 2018 Bugatti Chiron will be similar the exterior of the Veyron. It will have Veyron’s curvaceous haunches and the front fascia will be decorated with Veyron’s trademark grille. Major difference between the two models is the vertical swinging doors that were not changed only because of aesthetical reasons but for the sake of practicality. The newcomer will be more aerodynamic compared to the vehicle it replaces. Thanks to the improved aerodynamics, the vehicle will gain additional 18 mph on its top speed. The vehicle also arrives with air intakes that are placed over the occupant compartment roof. The air intakes suck air for the mighty W-16 engine that is placed under the hood of the Chiron. Generally, this 2-door coupe will keep Veyron’s recognizable design but the aforementioned changes will have positive impact on car’s overall performance. This is a clear proof how small number of changes can bring a car to a completely new level.
2018 Bugatti Chiron Interior
We have already mentioned that the Veyron had several shortcomings and one of them is slightly off-centered driving positions. We were glad to hear that the company is working hard to fix this issue. The gauge cluster will also be changed and it will get a makeover. The large center tachometer will be replaced by an analog speedometer. What we also noticed was that 312-mph was listed as top speed. Ergonomics will also be enhanced with the switchgear being repositioned.
The windshield will be large enough to ensure great outward visibility. The cabin of the newcomer will be equipped with latest technological and safety features. The final list of features hasn’t been released yet, but we truly expect a lot from Bugatti. The cabin of the 2018 Bugatti Chiron will be even more luxurious than the cabin of the Veyron. Since it is a new generation, we also expect that materials will be premium. It is not that the cabin of the Veyron was not luxurious enough, but novelties are always welcomed, right?
2018 Bugatti Chiron Engine
Reports suggest that the engine of the Veyron will be carried over and that the 2018 Bugatti Chiron will be powered by the same engine configuration as its predecessor. Well, not everything will be the same. The 8.0-liter W-16 will get direct-fuel injection with the turbo boost being increased. Moreover, electronic turbos will replace two of the four turbos. The electronic turbos will be spooled by electric motors rather than exhaust gas. Thanks to all these improvements, the engine will be able to deliver 1,500 hp. Torque will also be increased to 1,100 pound-feet. A torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system with 7-speed dual-clutch shifter will be available. The vehicle will be able to gain 60 mph in only 2.5 seconds.
