Since Volkswagen Group has taken over the British manufacturer Bentley, sales have been increased tenfold and the company is still on roll even though its lineup shows its age. It appears that things will be significantly changed in the near future since the company will introduce a great number of changes and refreshments for its lineup. They have announced that the first generation of their SUV will hit the market by the end of the year. They also introduced a mid-cycle refresh for their most popular model called the Continental GT. Currently, they are working on their new concept that has been unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The model will be called the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6. It will be the concept which radiates with traditional British luxury but in contemporary and compact package. One thing is certain-the concept has a pretty good chance to be turned into a production car!
Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Exterior
Bentley’s upcoming model will be offered in a variation of British Racing Green and it will feature two seats. Even though its name somewhat recalls an eight-year-old six-banger Bentley, its exterior blends 1950s design cues and proportions and modern design motifs. The vehicle has a clean overall appearance but it also features a great deal of muscular surfaces. The front fascia of the vehicle is typical Bentley. It is decorated with a matrix mesh grille along with four roundish headlamps. The bumper grille looks like a twisted smile and it is flanked by two LED strips. The side profile of the vehicle is also typical Bentley with its long hood, large wheels, and muscular fenders. The rear end of the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 has a much leaner look. The wide shoulder lines somehow remind us of the Aston Martin design language. The rear end is decorated with oval LED taillights that have almost the same design as the exhaust pipes, ensuring the vehicle a more contemporary Bentley vibe. Other interesting thing to be mentioned is that the exhaust exits, the grille, side vents, and the door handles are not stamped; they are 3D printed this time.
If the new, neo-retro exterior wasn’t good enough to draw your attention, the perfectly designed cabin surely will. When you peak inside of the cabin, you will see a perfect harmony of two-tone leather, steel, aluminum, cherry wood and copper. The trademark, analogue details blend perfectly with futuristic and contemporary features. The center console features a 12-inch touchscreen. The door panels have 3D quilting. As for the leather upholstery, there will be Italian Poltrona Frau Leather. The luggage compartment will consist of two compartments specially designed to offer room for a specific 4-piece luggage set. Everything seems to be production-ready, so we can expect the EXP 10 Speed 6 Concept on roads very soon.
Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 Engine
The company hasn’t divulged many details about the vehicle’s drivetrain. If we judge by the nomenclature’s legacy, a 6-banger is a great possibility. The original Speed Six Bentleys was powered by a straight-six drivetrain but since the Volkswagen Group doesn’t offer that kind of engine configuration currently, a twin-turbocharged V-6 would be a good replacement. But the new Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 will compete against eight-banger vehicles such as Mercedes-Benz AMG GT and the Jaguar F-Type, so an Audi-sourced 4.0 TFSI V-8 could be an option as well.
Since we know Bentley quite well, the starting price for the Bentley EXP 10 Speed 6 will be no less than $150.000. The exact release date of the vehicle is not known yet, but everything seems to be production-ready, so we assume that the vehicle will appear in showrooms rather sooner than later.
