The Huracan is the successor for the incredibly successful Gallardo which sold better than pretty much any other super-car in the World before it. In order to be able to step into its shoes, the Huracan received quite a few models already such as the Super Trofeo, the GT3 which is the racing version of it as well as an upcoming Superleggera. In order to boosts its sales, they released at the Frankfurt Auto Show the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder which is the convertible version of the car. While it is not as fast as the coupe model, it is a lot better than the car before it and it should be a worthy competitor for the current convertible super-cars on the market.
Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder Price And Release
The car has been announced to start at nearly $250,000 on the US market while in Europe it will start at around $210,000 before taxes. This is less than its direct competitors but it is more expensive than the Gallardo Spyder or than the 911 Turbo Convertible. Lamborghini will start delivering the car starting with the first quarter of 2016 and they should release a higher performance version of the Spyder with the SV model some time at the end of 2016 or early 2017.
The chassis as well as the bodywork of the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder are quite similar to those on the coupe model. They now use a mix of aluminum, on the fenders and hood, and carbon fiber for the safety cell as well as for the rear part of the car. The engine cover has been re-engineered in order to make room for the cloth roof and allow the engine to breathe without making the car look bad.
The roof has also been engineered to be quite compact and thanks to the fact it is a cloth roof, it is much lighter than an aluminum one. The driver will be able to retract the roof in around 17 seconds and up to speeds of 31 MPH which is enough for what it is. The rear window on the other hand can be lowered at any speeds whether the roof is up or down.
Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder Interior
The interior is a bit more different than that of the coupe version which is very interesting considering it is the same car as before. The dashboard has a slightly new designs, the center console comes with new buttons as well as new materials such as standard carbon fiber and aluminum buttons, giving it a real sense of perfection. The steering wheel is similar to the coupe version and the 12.3 inch instrument cluster can now be customized in any way the driver wants. The interior can now be had in a few more color combinations which should complement the exterior of the car a bit better.
Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder Engine
Now, the performance of the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder is slightly lower than that of the coupe model. This is because the car weighs around 250 pounds more than this in order to keep its structural rigidity pretty much unchanged. The car is 40% stronger and it offers 50% more downforce than the Gallardo Spyder which translates in more control and better performance even though it does not offer much more power than the Gallardo. The engine is the same 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 as before which is capable of producing up to 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to it, the car can achieve 60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds and get to a top speed of over 202 MPH. However, Lamborghini did not say if the top speed is with the roof up to down which is a bit misleading.
