The Lykan Hypersport is one of the most controversial cars built in the last few years. While its design is certainly up there with the most exquisite cars in the World and its engine is something quite impressive, the car did not manage to impress everyone like the Veyron or even Koenigsegg did. This is because it has been built in a very limited series and it cost more than pretty much any other car on the road. Its manufacturer, W Motors, advertised the car at $3,4 million and because they do not make it anymore, the price skyrocketed ever since.
Lykan Hypersport Review
Even though there are just seven cars built, its manufacturer managed to built it from scratch, so it has its own chassis and running gear but it comes with an already well known engine. On top of that, its interior is probably one of the best among any other car currently in production.
Let’s start with the engine which is a 3.8 liter twin-turbocharged flat-6. It first started life as a Porsche powertrain but it then has been upgraded by RUF specifically for this model. The end result is that the engine will make up to 770 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of torque which puts it in the same league of performance with some of the most powerful cars in the World. The engine sends all of its power to the rear wheels via a 6 speed sequential gearbox or a more refined 7 speed dual-clutch automatic. Both of them are similar in terms of performance with an identical 0 to 60 MPH time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of nearly 240 MPH which is lower on the 6 speed model.
Most of the car is built out of carbon fiber but in order to justify the massive price tag, the Lykan Hypersport also comes with rare metals and stones in its construction. The headlights for example have two titanium blades each which have embedded in them 420 diamonds each. The general design of the car is also spot on with a very aggressive look which is unique even though it has been built by such a small firm.
Lykan Hypersport Interior
The interior is the part which let everyone down because even though it costs as much as two Veyron cars, the Lykan Hypersport is not even close in terms of luxury or features. The interior has been criticized as being too bland with gray leather and cheap looking materials. The only good part is the 9 inch screen which with the help of 3D sensors recognizes gestures as commands, a feature which has not been offered on any other production car.
