Every now and then there is one car that manages to catch everyone’s attention. This time the Torino Design ATS Wild Twelve Concept car managed to impress a lot of people when it was shown at the Parco Valentino Salone & Gran Premio outdoor car show. The car is built from scratch rather than using an already established chassis and it has been built in order to show people that they mean business. Just as the name suggests, the concept car has been designed by Torino Design and engineered by ATS which is a small engineering company that also makes high performance track day cars.
Torino Design ATS Wild Twelve Concept Price
Unlike their usual products though, the Wild Twelve concept is a full blown hyper-car with a lot of interesting features to it. Because it is built on a specifically designed chassis, it is very light and the production model is actually expected to weigh less than 2,900 pounds, a lot less than today’s hyper-cars. While its price is not known so far, we expect it to cost around $1,000,000 or even more than that, especially since they will only build 30 complete cars.
The design of the Torino Design ATS Wild Twelve Concept is impressive to say the least. The car looks nothing like the current available hyper-cars and it will certainly become a sought after vehicle. The front end features a really aggressive design with two round fog-lamps and four individual headlights that are hidden under the front grille. The bumper houses a small splitter and the hood has hot air exhausts which cools the front radiator. The back is equally impressive with a mid-mounted exhaust system and a design which is reminiscent of the 1950s Formula 1 cars. One unique feature of the Wild Twelve is that it does not feature active aerodynamics and it does not have a rear spoiler. Many people said that it will not be able to handle all that power but considering it will be built by a capable engineering company, we do expect it to drive incredibly well despite having no spoiler.
Torino Design ATS Wild Twelve Interior
The interior has not been shown to the public so far but if we had to guess then the car will most likely try to impress us with top notch materials and a minimalistic look which will certainly be able to complement the bold exterior.
Torino Design ATS Wild Twelve Concept Engine
Under the rear glass lid there is its engine which is something a bit more special than the usual 2 liter inline 4 engines of the other ATS cars. The Torino Design ATS Wild Twelve Concept features a unique powertrain which consists out of a 3.8 liter naturally aspirated V12 as well as two electric motors. The first powers the rear wheels via a 9 speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox while the front wheels are each powered by its own electric motors. The total output of the car is 847 horsepower and 678 lb-ft of torque which is quite close to the current hyper-cars on the market and certainly more than most other cars out there.
Official numbers suggest that the ATS Wild Twelve will get to 60 MPH from a standing start in just 2.6 seconds and it should hit a top speed of over 240 MPH, mostly thanks to its design which has very little drag. The electric motors are powered by a stack of lithium ion batteries which can either be recharged from a charging station or with the help of the regenerative braking system. This will allow the car to travel up to 20 miles on electricity alone which is better than its competitors and it should be enough to get the driver out of the city and on the open roads.
